Wrapped up Section 4 @ Yellowstone Woo Hoo

Happy to be taking a rest day tomorrow and what better place than the first National Park! This week has been full of history, storms and good people. We've ridden about 1300 miles so far and are stronger than ever.

8/8 Pioneer Mtn Lodge, Wisdom, MT to KOA, Dillon, MT 69 miles.
Cold morning out of Wisdom but we warmed up quick. Met Rob from San Fran who passed us the day before. We all snacked and chatted at a small town mercantile. He welded his own bike. Friendly guy.

The sky was dark with smoke from forest fires. The passes were not the hardest but had a headwind. We couldnt see any of the colors of the mountains bc of the smoke either.

Bill at KOA couldn't have been more friendly. The slide in he pool was fun and the site has shade.

8/9 Dillon, MT to KOA, Alder, MT
Clean campground but expensive.

8/10 Alder to Rest Stop 59 miles
Big storm but luckily had stopped riding right before it hit.

8/11 end Section 4 at Yellowstone! 38 miles

I love National parks. IMAX about Lewis and Clark and Wolf and Bear Discovery Center tomorrow. Chatted with Australian woman today that said "good on ya" and we are super fit:). Also passed a couple on road bikes. The woman rider saw us and told her mate "I want to do that!". The 287 west entrance to west Yellowstone is awesome.

This brings Us to the end of Section 4. Monday we start section 5.

  3. Hello Ali and Tom,

By now you have covered 1,400 miles which is amazing. Your postcard arrived today which was a nice surprise. I spoke with your cousin Brian yesterday and he is looking forward to your upcoming visit. He camps quite often..must be genetic. I suspect your Viking genes are responsible for the explorer in both of you. Andy is officially finished with US army 82nd Airborne.

Say hi to Tom and have fun.

    Love you

    Uncle George
